How old do you have to be to get an adult Train ticket?

I’m trying to get a Train Ticket from Virgin Trains and I’m not sure how old I have to be for an adult ticket.

I’m not saying my age due to privacy laws.

As soon as you turn sixteen you are regarded as an adult in the eyes of the railway and the full adult fare applies to all types of ticket. You can, however, buy a “Sixteen to Twenty Five” railcard which will give you a 33% discount on most standard tickets, and even some discount on “Advance” fares.
I support your reluctance to reveal your age, you can’t be too careful in this day and age.

The Train Part Three

The Train Part Three

$13.59

The first collaborative album from Mark E. Smith — leader of the Fall — and Ed Blaney — ex-member and occasional manager of the Fall — was a collection of loose songs and one-off singles, but this second effort is quite different. The Train Part Three features field recordings of trains and train stations with some of Blaney’s acoustic guitar strumming and Smith’s literate rambling woven in. One track, no stops, just 40 minutes of maverick, train-related sound collage for a less spacy, more ramshackle alternative to the KLF’s Chill Out, or something like a hobo journey across the U.K. with Smith as companion. Fall fanatics and tape manipulation addicts are the only ones who need tickets for this trip, but they’re rewarded with a soundscape that’s unique, well-constructed, and Fall-flavored. Plus, there’s some kind of trainspotting “Fallfan equals railfan” subtext to ponder, as if the buckling CD shelves of the Fall faithful weren’t reminder enough. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi Performers: Ed Blaney – Sampling, Vocals; Mark E. Smith – Sampling, Vocals

Virgin Killer

Virgin Killer

$9.59

Recorded just before the band began cranking out their earliest hits on classic albums like Lovedrive and Animal Magnetism, Virgin Killer is the first of four studio releases that really defined the Scorpions and their urgent metallic sound that was to become highly influential. While there are no tracks recognizable to the casual fan like “Blackout” and “Another Piece of Meat,” on Virgin Killer, serious fans of the group treasure this 1977 collection. Some all-time Scorpions standouts like “Pictured Life” and the title cut have all the necessary guitar chops and fierce falsetto melodies to get even the most jaded heavy metal old-timer teary eyed with nostalgia. Perhaps Virgin Killer isn’t as focused as the brilliant Lovedrive or as tuneful as either Animal Magnetism or Blackout, but the group’s trademark enthusiasm (the single element that separated and defined them, especially during the occasionally over-serious days of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and dexterity shines through on this near-historic heavy metal collection. ~ Vincent Jeffries, Rovi Performers: Achim Kirschning – Keyboards, Synthesizer; Francis Buchholz – Bass; Klaus Meine – Vocals; Rudolph Schenker – Guitar (Rhythm), Guitar, Vocals; Rudy Lenners – Percussion, Drums; Uli Jon Roth – Guitar, Vocals
